Brisbane big man Mitch Young and newly signed Bullets’ talent, Stephen Holt spent some more quality on-court time together in the US this week.

Reunited as part of the Gael’s All-Star classic over the weekend, the two St Mary’s alumni gave fans a glimpse of the fun to come from watching the dynamic duo this coming 17/18 NBL Season.

Playing for the Blue Side, who came up just five points shy at the final buzzer (117-113), it took Young and Holt no time to fall back into old teammate rhythms.

Coached by fellow Aussie and Bucks guard Matthew Dellavedova, both played true to form.

Young owned the offensive ring, showing off some serious dunking skills and earning himself 22 points. And Holt, always the clever playmaker, helped fuel an impressive comeback attempt while also contributing 12 points.

Upon signing with the Brisbane Bullets, Holt said playing alongside his St Mary’s brotherhood including Young and Daniel Kickert would be a bonus.

“I know both their games and look forward to competing with them again,’

“I had a solid talk with Coach Lemanis about his vision for the club and my role and I wanted to be a part of it.”

Holt joins Brisbane after most recently playing in Spain and the Czech Republic, but has NBL experience. In 2015, he averaged close to 16 points per game playing for Melbourne United and was named in the All NBL 2nd team.

“It was an easy decision to get on board [with the Bullets] after talking with Kicks and Youngy and of course Coach Lemanis,” the 6’4 American said.

“I want to win a championship and feel really hungry after coming up short in Melbourne.”

Holt will arrive in Australia to commence training with the Bullets in August, but after seeing him in action alongside Young, anticipation for his contribution to the new-look Brisbane team is already building.

Basketball fans can catch more Mitch Young action live when the Brisbane Bullets take on China at the Gold Coast Sports and Leisure Centre (Carrara) on Tuesday, 18 July 2017.

Tickets for the game will be made available soon so keep an eye out on the Brisbane Bullet’s social pages for updates.
