More than 40 years of Australian basketball history will be celebrated with the Hungry Jack’s NBL Champion Heritage Round.
All nine teams will wear special heritage jerseys designed in conjunction with the NBL’s official on court apparel partner Champion during Round 16 of the 2020-21 Season.
NBL Commissioner Jeremy Loeliger said: “Starting in 1979, the NBL is one of Australia’s longest running national club competitions and has a rich and proud history. The Hungry Jack’s NBL Champion Heritage Round is a fantastic opportunity for us all to celebrate that history whether it’s our Clubs, players or fans.
“Champion’s history and long association with basketball makes them the ideal partner to help bring the Hungry Jack’s NBL Champion Heritage Round to life. As always the jerseys will be a talking point but also a reminder of the great teams and stars of yesteryear.”
Champion AUS-NZ General Manager Jo Holding said: “As a brand that’s over 100 years old, collaborating with the NBL on their heritage round is a perfect fit for Champion. Working closely with each NBL team, our designers have referenced specific jerseys from seasons past, to celebrate each team’s history.”
Champion AUS-NZ Designer Ben Lalic said: “One of the jersey’s we worked on was for the Adelaide 36ers, referencing the jersey worn by Jacob Holmes in 2002. Using the design and history of this particular jersey, we wanted to pay homage to an NBL champion by reinventing a jersey for a new generation.”
