Forward Blake Jones has today officially signed with the Brisbane Bullets, on a development contract for NBL21.
The signing of Jones completes the Bullets squad, with 12 players now locked in ahead of the season opener this Saturday at Nissan Arena.
The 18-year-old has had a successful junior career, representing both Queensland and Australia at various age levels. Standing at 204cm, Jones has also spent time in the USA, receiving an NBA Global Academy Scholarship in 2018 and also attended the 2020 Basketball Without Borders Global Camp in Chicago.
Jones is happy to have his immediate future sorted here at the Bullets.
“Yeah, it’s great to be part of this organisation,” Jones said. “Having the chance to train with some of the best around each day is definitely helping with my development.
“It’s definitely a big change from juniors, stepping up to this professional level. It’s a challenge I’m enjoying a lot.
“I’m happy in this environment and will be looking to learn everything I can from our experienced coaching staff and talented playing squad.
“It’s great to be able to play here in Brisbane in front of friends and family as well. Any game time I get I want to grab with both hands and make the most of it.”
General Manager of Basketball, Sam Mackinnon, believes Jones will benefit from being around a professional set-up on a full-time basis.
“Blake is a tremendous young talent and it’s great that we can have him as part of the system here at the Bullets,” Mackinnon said.
“He’s had a very successful career to date coming through the junior ranks but knows the hard work starts now as he continues his development up through the professional ranks.
“We look forward to working together and seeing his development and progression.”
