With the Bullets dispersed for the off-season, athletes of a different kind have taken over the High-Performance Centre in South Brisbane.
Loganholme-based Functional sportswear brand LSKD have set up the 1% Better Hub at 62 Merivale Street, transforming the facility and providing a training and recovery centre for some of the world’s best hybrid athletes during Hyrox Brisbane.
The centre has become a high-performance playground for those competing – as well as the wider public - with a pop-up shop featuring exclusive product drops, coffee from LSKD’s Homeground Cafe and recovery and relaxation opportunities.
Wednesday evening’s launch event saw an evening built around movement, connection, and race day preparation.
Wednesday evening’s launch event was built around movement, connection, and race-day preparation.
A 30-minute community run was followed by an elite athlete Q&A covering race-day preparation, mindset, and performance.
HYROX Brisbane itself will welcome more than 25,000 competitors to an event combining running with functional workout stations. Participants complete a 1km run followed by one functional workout station, repeated eight times.
Brandon Matukas, GM Commercial at the Brisbane Bullets, believes the event can kickstart a prosperous partnership and exemplifies the Bullets’ commercial diversification.
“We are so proud to welcome LSKD. They have transformed our space brilliantly, and we hope this marks the beginning of a strong and lasting relationship between our two organisations,” he said.
“There is a natural synergy in the way we operate - both the Bullets and LSKD are pillars of our respective communities - so it has been incredibly exciting to bring this partnership to life.
“The launch event welcomed thousands of people through our doors, many of whom may not have interacted with the Bullets before. It was fantastic to introduce them to our home in the heart of South Brisbane and showcase the club and facility.
“That, and the event more broadly, will help to bring us grow the Bullets fanbase, and bring our historic team into public consciousness as we begin to build towards NBL27.
“This partnership also reflects our commitment to working with brands that have South-East Queensland in their DNA, a region we are proud to represent.”
