Bullets Off Season Wrap Up

The Brisbane Bullets had a multiple players in action over the weekend, both in the the NBL1 and oversees.

Off the back of his signing announcement with the Bullets, Isaac White has had a great start to his NBL1 North campaign, sparking his Mackay Meteors to a second straight win.

Led by White, the Mackay Meteors proved too strong on their home floor defeating Townsville 82-64. It was a remarkable opening quarter for the guard with 15 points and six steals by the first break.

White finished the night with 34 points, eight steals, five rebounds and five assists for Mackay on the back of shooting 50% from the field, 40% from beyond the arc.

Bullets fans will get the opportunity to see White in action following the Easter break and a bye weekend. The Meteors will come down to Brisbane for a triple header on Friday April 21 – Sunday April 23.

Nathan Sobey and his Ipswich Force side scored their second win of the NBL1 North season knocking off the defending champion Gold Coast Rollers 108-88.

Sobey was electric for the Force, delivering 26 points, six rebounds, six assists and three steals, while shooting 50% from three-point land.

The next game for Sobey and Ipswich is on Sunday April 16 against South West Metro Pirates and former Brisbane Bullets teammate Lamar Patterson.

New Bullets recruit Sam McDaniel suited up for the Hobart Chargers in the NBL1 South. Looking to defend their NBL1 South title last season, the Chargers came up short. However McDaniel made strong contributions for his side with 19 points and eight rebounds.

Sam and the Chargers will be back in action on April 15 against the Dandenong Rangers.

DJ Mitchell has been plying his trade abroad this off-season with a stint at Slask Wroclaw who compete in both the Euro Cup and Polish League, before he returns to the NBL1 North to join the Northside Wizards.

Slask Wroclaw had mixed results at the weekend. They defeated GTK Gliwice to retain top spot in the Poland Energa Basket Liga. DJ contributed nine points, seven rebounds and three blocks.

A couple of days earlier, Slask Wroclaw lost to Italian Club Trento in the Euro Cup where DJ finished with eight points, two rebounds and two assists.

DJ will be back on court on April 11 against fellow Polish team Trefl Sopot.

Still yet to start his off season campaign is Tyrell Harrison, who will playing with the Franklin Bulls of the NZNBL. They begin their season this Friday April 6 against the Hawkes Bay Hawks. Each of Tyrell’s games will be livestreamed on the FIBA Youtube channel.
