The Brisbane Bullets have strengthened their connection to the Logan–Beenleigh community by announcing a new partnership with Trinity College Beenleigh, opening the door for students to experience basketball at a professional level while developing skills that will serve them for life.
The collaboration will see the Brisbane Bullets work alongside Trinity’s basketball program to deliver a mix of skill clinics, mentoring sessions, and leadership workshops.
The partnership is about much more than basketball, CEO Mal Watts said the club is committed to making a positive impact that extends well beyond the court.
“Not every student will go on to play in the NBL, but the lessons of teamwork, persistence, and confidence are transferable everywhere,” Watts said.
“If we can help Trinity students take those qualities into their future careers, on or off the court, then this partnership will be a success. It’s about giving young people the chance to see what’s possible and to believe they can achieve it.”
Trinity College Beenleigh, a co-educational school with a proud record of academic and sporting achievement, views the partnership as an exciting step in broadening opportunities for its students.
Principal Allison Elcoate said she was delighted to welcome the Bullets into the Trinity community.
“This partnership gives our young people the chance to learn directly from elite athletes, not just about basketball but about resilience, leadership and striving for excellence,” Elcoate said.
“We want our students to see what’s possible when you combine passion with hard work, and this partnership makes that real.
It’s also about inspiring them to aim higher in all areas of life, whether that’s sport, study, or their future careers.”
Basketball has grown rapidly in Queensland in recent years, with junior participation at record highs. For the Bullets, creating stronger links with schools like Trinity College is a key part of ensuring that growth continues, while also building deeper connections with local communities.
