The Brisbane Bullets are excited to announce the signing of American point guard Shannon Scott on a two-year deal.
Scott brings a wealth of international experience playing in the G-League for the Long Island Nets and Raptors 905 and also in Germany, Greece, Lithuania and Venezuela throughout his career.
The defensive-minded, high IQ point guard also has experience playing in the NBL. He spent a season with the Cairns Taipans in the 2022/23 season where he averaged 10 points, 5.4 assists and 4.3 rebounds per game.
He displayed his strong offensive package on many occasions during the Taipans playoff run year, with a season high 31 points, 4 assists and 4 rebounds against the Adelaide 36ers, shooting 73% from the field and 5/7 from beyond the arc.
Hostplus Head Coach Justin Schueller said, “From the outset we have wanted a high iq pass first guard that can create their own when needed, Shannon is that guy.”
“He had an outstanding season last year and has shown he can impact the game at both ends of the floor.
“We feel he compliments the pieces that we have put together on this roster and it’s an exciting addition for our Club.
“Shannon is a high quality person who fits our rebuild and we see it as a bonus that he has been a high level player in our league already,” Schueller added.
Speaking to Bullets Media, Shannon said he’s looking forward to arriving in Brisbane and getting to work with the team.
“I chose to sign with the Bullets because I saw an opportunity to play with a group of guys that were hungry to make noise in the NBL and shock the league,” Scott said.
“I am a player that brings a great understanding of the game. I know how to get my teammates involved and help them be in positions to use their assets. I’m also someone that wants to bring defensive energy every game.”
When asked about returning to the NBL Scott believes his prior experience will play to his advantage.
“Playing in the NBL last year allows me to come back and have a better understanding of the teams styles, the speed and physicality of the league and how tough each and every game will be with so much talent.”
“I’m most looking forward to getting Brisbane back into the hunt and getting a chance to continue to learn in this league,” Scott added.
Shannon Scott joins Aron Baynes, Nathan Sobey, Tyrell Harrison, DJ Mitchell, Isaac White, Sam McDaniel, Josh Bannan and Mitch Norton on the Bullets NBL24 roster.
