Brisbane Bullets General Manager Basketball Sam Mackinnon has declared new signing Harry Froling is primed to do “some big things” this season.
Froling joined the Bullets in July after spending the last two seasons with the Adelaide 36ers. His talent is undeniable, as he was crowned the NBL’s Rookie of the Year in 2019 and earned NBA workouts with the Philadelphia 76ers, Utah Jazz and Sacramento Kings that same year.
Mackinnon shares a close relationship with the Froling family and admits Harry has some clear areas of improvement. According to Mackinnon, coming to Brisbane provides Froling with the right environment to correct his weaknesses and unlock his full potential.
“For me it’s a real simple thing. He is a good kid with a bit of an edge, and he needs to learn to manage that edge,” Mackinnon told NBL Rewind.
“It is that simple and not eat as much, which I can say that about Harry because I know him quite well.
“He is doing an amazing job, I’m sure if you’ve seen him in some of the QSL highlights, that’s a different league but his body shape and size, his IQ is off the charts.
“He is a really smart basketball player and he is going to do some big things this year.
“Him, Hodgey (Matt Hodgson), Will (Magnay), Tyrell (Harrison), we really like that frontcourt and the one big piece is the import. I really like what our group can potentially do.”
Froling is coming off an incredible QSL campaign with the RedCity Roar where he averaged 28.7 points and 17.2 rebounds per game.
