Centre Tyrell Harrison has put in outstanding back-to-back performances against both The Hawks and Sydney is the past week and the 21-year-old is loving every minute he’s had out on the court.
Harrison came off the bench in both games but made an instant impact, his 11 rebounds, 4 blocks and 8 points tallied up against The Hawks was backed up by an 11 point and 11 rebound showing against the Kings on Australia Day.
The local product is excited about the block of upcoming games but has admitted the entire group are solely focused on Saturday’s clash against the Taipans at Nissan Arena.
“They always play hard,” he said. “Whenever we play against them it’s always been a battle.
“For us it’s about getting out there with the right mindset and taking what we’ve been working on at practice out on to the court.”
A number of players in recent weeks have discussed the lift in tempo on the court and the adjustment in style of play.
“It’s been a focal point for us (getting the ball to the post and working it from there). The ball movement has helped me and it gets me a lot of touches. It gets my hands on the ball more.”
Harrison is enjoying the rise in minutes on court but puts his efforts down to the hard work put in during the pre-season.
“It’s pretty cool and fascinating when I look back (at the pre-season). Not just for me but for the whole squad.
“It was a long pre-season, it gave me a lot of time to think and work on my game.”
Both Anthony Drmic (concussion) and Vic Law (illness) were absent from yesterday’s practice with both going through the return-to-play protocols in the hope of being available for the Taipans game.
