Experienced Australian-German coach Dr. Markus Klusemann has joined the Brisbane Bullets as Assistant Coach and Head of High Performance.
Klusemann brings two decades of experience across three continents, including directing health, performance, and athlete development at Overtime Elite (OTE) where he worked with young NBA stars Alex Sarr, Amen Thompson, and Ausar Thompson.
Most recently, Klusemann served as Head Coach and High-Performance Manager for the Frankfurt Skyliners Juniors in Germany's Pro B league, collaborating with Bullets big man Jacob Holt.
In Australia, Klusemann has served as an Assistant Coach at Basketball Australia's Centre of Excellence after completing his PhD in Sport Science at the AIS.
He has held various coaching roles with the German Basketball Federation, as well as High Performance Manager for the Bavarian Basketball Association where he oversaw male youth development.
Klusemann also made contributions to Australia's 2012 London Olympics and 2014 Sochi Paralympics teams.
“Joining the Bullets at this stage is a great opportunity to use my diverse experiences to help drive the organisation forward,” Klusemann said.
“With Will’s leadership and strong support from the city, there’s a high ceiling here and I can't wait to get started.”
Klusemann will oversee high-performance functions alongside assistant coaching duties.
“Markus’ holistic approach and track record of helping the best players in the world perform at their best is a perfect fit for our club,” Head Coach Will Weaver said.
“He will help us make the Bullets an entirely integrated, evidence-based professional basketball club."
