The Brisbane Bullets are two from two in the NBL Blitz, defeating last season’s Grand Finalists the Perth Wildcats, 100-90 in Ulverstone.
There were strong contributions across the board for the Bullets with six players in double figures, as Hostplus Head Coach James Duncan was able to work through a number of different combinations during the 40 minutes.
The win over the Wildcats came without key backcourt members Nathan Sobey (rested) and Jason Cadee (illness), but with Lamar Patterson looking ominous, Tom Digbeu delivering the highlight reel plays and Tyrell Harrison revelling in his battle with former teammate Matt Hodgson, the Bullets showed some very positive signs.
Lamar Patterson continues to show exciting signs for Bullets fans, tonight stuffing the stat sheet with 16 points, 7 assists and six rebounds while shooting 8/3 from the field.
Promising Next Start, Digbeu provided a spark off the bench, showing signs he may be quite a handful this season, with 16 points (75% from the field), 4 assists and 2 blocks.
Leading for majority of the game, the Bullets dominated inside, out-rebounding the Wildcats, 39-22 and shot 66% from the field, scoring 58 of their 100 points inside the paint.
Tyrell Harrison had a strong outing, finishing with 16 points and 9 rebounds in a dominant display. Fellow big man, Chuanxing Liu (8 points and 6 rebounds) also made his presence felt inside.
With sharpshooters around the perimeter, the Bullets capitalised on some great ball movement, with Anthony Drmic (13 points, 3-6 3PT), Robert Franks (11 points, 3-6 3PT) and Tanner Krebs (10 points, 75%) stretching the defence.
After joining the team just a week ago, Deng Deng fit right in, with his athleticism on display, making exciting plays on both the offensive and defensive end.
The Bullets next face the Cairns Taipans in a battle of the Sunshine State on Wednesday November 24 at 4:30pm AEST.
