It was First Nations Round in the NBL1 this weekend as players and clubs from across the country wore uniforms designed by First Nations artists. Clubs recognised and acknowledged the histories, cultures and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Round 11 had a bit of everything, with some tight games, huge performances and Bullets teammates going head-to-head.
In the NBL1 South, Harry Froling’s ladder leading Hobart Chargers picked up another two wins, both coming down to the wire. Across the weekend Harry averaged 15.5 points and 7.5 rebounds as the Chargers defeated Nunawading 88-82 and Frankston 95-90.
NBL1 North saw four Bullets out on court on Saturday night. The Gold Coast Rollers featuring Jason Cadee, Tanner Krebs and Donovan Mitchell were able to get the win against recently signed Lual Diing.
Cadee had a strong all-round performance with 22 points, 12 assists and 5 rebounds. Krebs (18 points, 8 rebounds) and Mitchell (17 points, 6 rebounds) also put together impressive games as their team came away with the win.
Despite the loss Lual Diing put in an outstanding performance, finishing with a double-double of 26 points and 14 rebounds.
The ladder leading Gold Coast Rollers also had a double header this weekend, but were unable to get the second win on Sunday defeated by the Logan Thunder 101-83.
Donovan Mitchell was strong inside with 16 points, 18 rebounds and 3 assists. Jason Cadee was just short of a triple double with 20 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists and Tanner Krebs added 10 points, 4 rebounds and 5 rebounds.
