PLAYER TO WATCH
Harry Froling made an impact off the bench last week, scoring 11 points and adding five rebounds in 12 minutes.
Last season, Harry set a league season high 8-from-10 three-pointers against the Adelaide 36ers and has come back to the Bullets after a strong NBL1 season with the Hobart Chargers winning the NBL1 South.
The big man has a strong presence inside while also stretching the floor and making the opposition big defend all the way out to the arc.
KEY MATCHUP
DJ Mitchell brought a lot of energy last week on both the offensive and defensive ends of the floor. He athleticism was on display, making some big plays at the rim while also getting a number of deflections.
Xavier Cooks has been Sydney Kings X-factor for multiple seasons. Averaging 15.3 pts and 9.8 rpg per game in NBL22, Cooks has proven his ability to positively impact games.
DJ will need to make Xavier compete on the glass and limit the impact of Sydney’s star forward, while also making his usual contributions on the offensive end.
ON THE RECORD
Following the Bullets first game of the NBL23 season Hostplus Head Coach, James Duncan reiterated that his team must continue to bring the effort, but focus on taking care of the basketball.
“I can’t fault their effort. There’s a lot of good things we can take from the game,” JD said.
“But once we start turning the ball over and give a very good team easy opportunities to score the ball, they become comfortable, and the confidence starts flowing…we need to be better there.”
Aron Baynes highlighted the enjoyment he gets competing to be better with his teammates everyday and the team will look to feed off that energy against the Kings this week.
“I’m enjoying the challenge of coming in and doing this daily and working towards getting better and pushing each of these guys in the locker room to be better.”
“What’s exciting for me is we’ve got a lot to build on from this game.”
