There were strong performances all round over the weekend, as our Brisbane Bullets took the court both in Australia and around the world.
In the NBL1 North, the Southern District Spartans have found their form, knocking off South West Metro 90-78 on Saturday night. Tyrell Harrison and Mitch Norton played integral roles in the win, both finishing with double doubles as the Spartans stormed home after trailing by five at the half. Harrison had an efficient 21 points, 12 rebounds, three steals and three blocks, while Norton added 14 points, 11 assists and five rebounds.
Next up, Mitch, Ty and the Spartans face Northside on Saturday May 25.
Isaac White and the Mackay Meteors remain the only undefeated male team in the NBL1, after taking down the Northside Wizards 109-83. Isaac White had another solid outing, adding 20 points, seven rebounds and four assists, while shooting 53% from the field.
White and Mackay travel south next weekend, for a double header against North Gold Coast Seahawks on Friday May 25 and Gold Coast Rollers on Saturday May 26.
On Sunday in the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane Capitals took care of business, defeating the Phoenix 94-76. Sam McDaniel was dominant on both ends of the floor, finishing with 21 points, 12 rebounds, five assists and four steals.
The Capitals have a bye next weekend, before returning to home court on Friday May 31 to face Cairns.
In the NBL1 East, the Centre of Excellence (CoE) continued their strong run of form defeating Sutherland on Saturday night 101-59. Kye Savage had 17 points and three steals while shooting five of 11 from beyond the arc.
On Sunday, CoE made it six in a row, knocking off Albury-Wodonga 96-83. Kye had another great outing, finishing with 16 points, seven rebounds and two assists.
Next up Kye and the CoE will face Central Coast on Saturday night in Canberra.
In the NZNBL, Tohi Smith-Milner and the Wellington Saints bounced back from a loss last weekend to defeat the Franklin Bulls in a nailbiter, 87-85. Tohi had 11 points and eight rebounds. Next up the Saints face Canterbury on Saturday May 25.
In France, Deng Adel and Boulazec have begun their play-off push in style, defeating Chalons-Reims 70-59 in game one and 69-67 in game two of their best of three, quarter final playoffs.
Adel’s athleticism was on display, finishing with 12 points, four rebounds and four assists in game two. Next up Adel and Boulazec face Vichy in the semi-final series starting Sunday May 26.
