Locked at 43 apiece at half time, the visiting Melbourne United went on a run in the third and held on to the 13 point advantage.

The young frontcourt combination of Gorjok Gak (18 points, 13 rebounds) and DJ Mitchell (16 points) were great for the Bullets throughout the match. Tyler Johnson had a strong outing with 17 points, 2 assists and 2 steals, while Nathan Sobey had 14 points, five rebounds and four assists.

For Melbourne it was Chris Goulding’s flurry of three’s in the third quarter that proved the difference on his way to 20 points for the visitors.

NATHAN SOBEY VS RAYJON TUCKER

Nathan Sobey has averaged 19 points per game in the two previous match-ups with Melbourne this season and the Bullets will be looking to their star guard to provide a spark from the jump. Sobey works hard on both ends of the floor and will implore his group to continue to bring a high level of energy for the full forty minutes.

Similarly, Rayjon has provided his team with a lot of energy at the guard spot and has averaged 20 points per game against the Bullets. Bullets guards will need to shut down his rim attack to limit further rotations defensively.

Playing in front of a pumping crowd at Nissan Arena, the Bullets were left to rue what could have been. After a tight first quarter the Bullets suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of the league leaders, but the team are ready to bounce back and keep working hard to put on a show for the Bullets faithful. Following the game Jason Cadee spoke to the media.

“We’re not good enough at the moment to be able to give up leads like that and find our way back in it,” Cadee said.

“We’ve had our first three trainings with our full team this week, or the course of the last seven days, and we’re trying to find who we are and what we are, and right now we have no idea.

“It’s hard because you want people to love coming to watch you play and I care about this place and this city that I play in so it’s deflating, it’s disappointing.

“We’ve got to find reasons… we owe people who show up, we owe them a better performance than tonight. How do we get it? We’ve got to keep working hard.”
