The Brisbane Bullets, in consultation with the NBL, can confirm that Sunday’s game against Cairns Taipans, scheduled to be played at Nissan Arena, has been postponed in line with COVID health and safety protocols.
Several Illawarra Hawks players tested positive for COVID-19 and Brisbane were the last team to play the Hawks, therefore Queensland Health deemed Brisbane close contacts and ordered follow-up testing. Positive results have since been returned from Brisbane thus the Boxing Day game between Brisbane and the Cairns Taipans has been postponed.
All Brisbane players and staff are double vaccinated.
The game between Brisbane and Cairns will be rescheduled.
“The health and safety of our players, coaches, clubs, staff and fans is our number one priority when considering these matters," Club spokesperson said.
“The Bullets will continue to follow the advice of governments and health authorities. Regular testing of all players and staff will continue, while further testing will be carried out on individuals impacted or those deemed close contacts.”
Patrons who have purchased tickets to Sunday’s game via Ticketek will be contacted directly.
