The Brisbane Bullets can confirm that Captain Mitch Norton has been diagnosed with a tibial plateau contusion following a knee hyperextension injury sustained during last week’s clash with the New Zealand Breakers.
Scans revealed no significant structural damage, and medical staff expect Norton to make a full recovery. His timeline to return is approximately eight weeks.
Head Coach Stu Lash said while Norton’s on-court presence will be missed, his resilience and leadership will continue to have a strong influence throughout the recovery period.
“Mitch leads by example in everything he does. His poise under pressure and ability to set the tone for our group are a big part of our identity,” Lash said.
“While we’ll miss him on the court during this period, he’ll continue to contribute with his voice and leadership.”
To cover the captain’s absence, the Bullets have nominated Tad Dufelmeier as the club’s injury replacement player.
Dufelmeier, an experienced NBL guard, is known for his high work rate, defensive commitment, and ability to generate offense for himself and his teammates.
His versatility allows him to handle the ball, create opportunities, and bring energy to the floor in key moments.
“Tad’s game is built on effort and smarts,” Lash said.
“He can shift gears quickly, disrupt defensively, and spark our transition game. He’s a player who knows how to slot into a team and make an impact straight away.”
The Bullets will lean on their depth and the addition of Dufelmeier to ensure they remain competitive until Norton’s return, with confidence that their captain will be back leading the charge soon.
