Bullets blitz Kings in final prep for NBL24

A week out from the first game of NBL24, the Brisbane Bullets finished their NBL Blitz on a high beating the defending champion Sydney Kings 105-76 on Friday night.

In front of an energetic Gold Coast crowd, the Bullets put on a show, piling on the points and holding a talented Sydney Kings outfit to 76 points.

The Bullets opened their scoring account through a three from DJ Mitchell, closely followed by another Chris Smith. This would be a glimpse of what was to come as the Bullets shot an efficient 61% from beyond the arc across the night.

Both teams were getting a feel for the game and going bucket for bucket, with the Kings leading 22-21 after the first quarter.

Nathan Sobey got in on the action scoring 10 of his 17 points in the first half, while Sam McDaniel, Isaac White and Tyrell Harrison came in and brought a ton of energy off the bench.

Brisbane went on a great run late in the second quarter taking a 45-40 lead into half time.

The Bullets ramped up the defensive pressure and continued to extend their lead to 10 points by three quarter time.

Shannon Scott came out and hit two threes early in the fourth quarter and the Bullets piled on 35 points to 16 in the final period to win by 29 to end the Blitz on a high at the Gold Coast Convention Centre.

Sam McDaniel top scored for the Bullets with an efficient 21 points on 9/11 shooting including 3/4 from deep.

Tyrell Harrison was strong inside with 18 points, eight rebounds and two blocks in 19 minutes while fellow big man Aron Baynes added 10 points, five boards and two blocks.

Nathan Sobey also had 17 points, six rebounds and four assists with Chris Smith contributing 12 points with 4/6 three-point shooting and Shannon Scott six points and four assists.
