After winning in double-overtime last week, the Bullets were unable to repeat the result, falling 83-70 to the Wildcats at RAC Arena in Perth.
Robert Franks put on another great display, showing off his versatility and athleticism with 28 points (58 FG%) and nine rebounds in the match. Averaging a double-double coming into the game, Franks is continuing to show he’s a force in this league.
Lamar Patterson stepped up in the second half finishing with 17 points and demonstrating his ability to get to the rack one on one with ease on a number of occasions.
Deng Deng also had an impact, especially on the defensive end for the Bullets, with seven rebounds and three blocks.
The last time these two teams met was a fiery clash at RAC arena and the battle continued well into the match.
The opening half went blow for blow, with Franks and Perth’s Bryce Cotton knocking down tough shots at their respective ends of the court.
Nathan Sobey came off the court mid-way through the second quarter, appearing to be in discomfort. However, he did return at the beginning of the second half, allowing Brisbane fans to breathe a huge sigh of relief.
Nothing could split the teams, tied up at the half. When interviewed at the main break, Hostplus Head Coach, James Duncan said, “It’s going to come down to execution. Collectively we have to be better.”
Unfortunately for the Bullets, turnovers were an issue, particularly in the second half. The Wildcats were able to execute down the stretch and capitalised on the Bullets errors, outscoring the visitors 47-34 in the second half.
For the home side, former NBL MVP, Bryce Cotton was a standout with 29 points.
After being on the road for the entire start of the season, the Bullets ready themselves for their first home game on Sunday against the Illawarra Hawks.
