The Bullets were unable to complete a round eight sweep of the Kings, defeated 97-73 at Qudos Bank Arena.

From the outset, Sydney looked set for revenge, following a big win by the Bullets in Brisbane on Friday night.

The Kings locked in on defence and made every possession difficult for the visitors. A first quarter injury to Tyrrell Harrison saw him miss the remainder of the game. After pulling down 15 rebounds on Friday night, his presence was missed, especially on the glass.

Lamar Patterson led in both the scoring and rebounding categories for the Bullets with 16 points and 9 rebounds. Robert Franks was also close to his third double-double in as many games with 11 points and 8 rebounds.

In his 200th NBL game, Nathan Sobey chipped in 12 points and 3 assists, while Jason Cadee was the only other Brisbane player in double figures with 10 points.

Following the match, Hostplus Head Coach James Duncan put an emphasis on the Bullets need to be more consistent and to do the little things right, particularly on the defensive end.

“Our transition defence is something we’ve been talking about,” Duncan said.

“When we have success there is a complete focus and energy…The games where we haven’t had success, we don’t do that. It’s our responsibility to be more consistent.”

His focus now, learning from this one and moving on quickly to the next.

“We need to be better. Melbourne is coming to town on Wednesday, and we’ve got to start preparing for that,” Duncan added.

Jason Cadee reiterated the need for greater consistency within the group.

“We have a good group of guys, we just need to be more consistent. That’s our biggest challenge,” Cadee said.

“As a collective we have to bounce back Wednesday. It’s a mindset that you have to have to play in this League.”

He also made sure to acknowledge the work ethic of his teammate Nathan Sobey in his milestone match.

“It’s a credit to Sobes…To play 200 games is an incredible achievement and he’ll play many more.”

“I think it’s a cool thing to for him to be recognised because we all know how hard he works.”
