Bullets move gets Club legend's seal of approval

Brisbane Bullets legend Leroy Loggins was “getting goosebumps” as he drove to the Brisbane Entertainment Centre (BEC) today for the announcement of the Club’s return to the venue for the upcoming NBL season.

After record attendance at Nissan Arena last season, reaching 94% capacity in the venue, Bullets CEO Malcolm Watts said the move to BEC was made to “bring more fans and members into our arena to experience the Brisbane Bullets as well as the product of basketball in this country.”

The announcement comes on the back of a huge week for the Club, revealing the build of their High Performance Centre in Southbank last Wednesday.

“We're doing things differently, we're operating in a different format and it’s absolutely a new direction for the club,” Watts added as he and the Club focus to deliver success back to Brisbane.

“Our fan base turned up every week and demanded more. For us to be able to move back to the Brisbane Entertainment Centre, a place where this Club has had a lot of success, now that's the next part of our journey as we reshape who we are,” Schueller said.

“We want to go back and try and put another banner in the rafters and do what the legends behind us have done in the past.”

Former Championship winning player Loggins and Coach Brian Kerle spoke on the Club’s return to BEC and what the announcement means to them.

“I don't know if you know my story or not, but for me, basketball basically saved my life. So to come to a place like Brisbane and end up in a place like here at the Entertainment Centre. It's such a great feeling,” Loggins said.

“It's embedded in my heart. I love this place. I love this city. I love the support. And I love the Bullets.”

“The people of Brisbane are so important to us and there's hardly a week goes by now that people don’t come up to me and say hey Brian you know I was at the 1987 grand final at Boondal,” Kerle added.

“It's just an unbelievable feeling today I'm starting to think Leroy should be getting ready to dress up and we play again, that's how excited I am at being here.”

The Bullets will play their first home game of the 2024/25 NBL season at Brisbane Entertainment Centre on 5 October against the Sydney Kings.
