The Brisbane Bullets are pleased to announce Deng Deng has joined the club on a one-year deal.
Deng comes to Brisbane after a strong season with the Illawarra Hawks where he played 15 minutes per game off the bench. Deng’s energy and intensity on both ends of the floor was a major factor in Illawarra’s return to the finals.
Deng played for the Sydney Kings in the 2018/19 season and has played professionally in Poland, Lebanon, Finland, Qatar and America in the NBA G-League. Deng represented Australia in 2015 at the World University Games.
Brisbane Bullets Head Coach James Duncan said: “We are thrilled to have Deng Deng on board for the upcoming season.
“Deng is a player that perfectly fits into our system and the culture we are trying to build at the Bullets. Through perseverance Deng has been able to get to this point in his career. A highly energetic contributor on the defensive end of the floor and a player that wants to play team basketball on the offensive side, Deng is set to become a fan favourite.
“Last season was a breakout one for Deng and we look forward to helping him continue his growth at the Bullets.”
Deng said: “I’m so excited to be joining the Brisbane Bullets this season.
“Brisbane is a team I have always admired, and I can’t wait to connect with my new teammates. After speaking to James about his vision for the club, the decision to join the Bullets became an easy one.
“I hope to bring energy and effort every single game and help Brisbane win any way I can.”
Brisbane Bullets GM Basketball Sam Mackinnon said: “Deng proved last season that he belongs in the NBL and we are delighted to have him onboard.
“We believe Deng still hasn’t reached his potential and we look forward to helping him become the best player he can be.”
Deng joins Jack Salt, Jason Cadee, Anthony Drmic, Tyrell Harrison, Tanner Krebs, Nathan Sobey and Tamuri Wigness on Brisbane’s roster for the 2021/22 Hungry Jack’s NBL Season.
