The Brisbane Bullets finished the pre-season Blitz 2-1, following an 80-67 loss to Melbourne United.

Despite the loss, the Bullets were able to get some valuable time into their rotation, with the entire roster hitting the floor and playing valuable minutes across the three pre-season games.

For Bullets fans there was a lot to like up North, with Aron Baynes, Nathan Sobey and Tyler Johnson all playing their first minutes of the pre-season and showing glimpses of what’s to come in NBL23.

The Bullets started the game strong with triples to Nathan Sobey and Tanner Krebs, Melbourne then went on a 9-2 run in response.

The Bullets put together eight consecutive points, off the back of some great ball movement and were able to hold off Melbourne to take a three point lead into quarter time.

Both teams started the second period slowly, but it was Melbourne United who were able to take a 38-35 lead into half time.

United went on to outscore the Bullets 21 points to 14 in the third quarter extended their lead to 10 after the third.

Krebs came out and lit it up once again in the fourth quarter for the Bullets hitting another pair of threes and some strong drives giving him 12 of his 21 points for the game.

This helped his team get back within six on a few occasions, but they couldn’t get any closer with triples from Melbourne veterans Chris Goulding and David Barlow steadying United on their way to the 13-point win.

Krebs started and finished the game on fire for Brisbane to put up 21 points on 9/14 shooting.

Tyler Johnson finished with eight points and three assists and Harry Froling seven points and seven rebounds.

Gorjok Gak made some impressive plays displaying his athleticism and making his presence felt inside. Jason Cadee and Rasmus Bach also brought energy off the bench and were integral to the Bullets swift ball movement.

The Bullets return to Brisbane to finish preparations for their NBL23 campaign, tipping off next Sunday, 2 October in Perth. The Bullets play three games on the road before returning to Brisbane for their first home game on Sunday 16 October.
