The Brisbane Bullets continue their unbeaten run in the pre-season defeating the Cairns Taipans 94-86, in a battle of the Sunshine State.
It was an exciting start for the Bullets with an alley oop pass from Lamar Patterson to Tyrell Harrison for the jam to open up the scoring, with a taste of what was to come in the next four quarters.
The Bullets were able to rotate through the roster, testing a number of different combinations and defensive looks throughout the match.
Locking down on defence has been a clear focus for the team in the pre-season. The Bullets played with a high level of energy and were active on the defensive end, recording 15 steals and 7 blocks. In the back court Nathan Sobey and Anthony Drmic were getting their hands to everything with a number or deflections, while Tyrell Harrison and Robert Franks used their length in the paint to clean up above the rim.
Nathan Sobey was electric for the Bullets, finishing with 27 points (6-8 3PT), 8 assists and 4 steals. Lamar Patterson also gave Brisbane fans a glimpse of what’s ahead playing with patience and poise on his way to 18 points, 7 assists and five rebounds.
Brisbane attacked the basket hard showing off their athleticism, whether it be in the half court or out in transition. With shooters stretching the floor and creating space, the Bullets guards were able to penetrate the paint and find the bigs inside, finish at the rim, or kick out to shooters.
Robert Franks continued his strong form with 15 points, 8 rebounds and 2 blocks. Tyrell Harrison had another strong outing with 10 points, 5 rebounds and 4 blocks, while Tanner Krebs packed a punch off the bench collecting his 8 points at key moments of the game, including a buzzer beater.
The Bullets play their last NBL Blitz game on Sunday, November 28 against the Adelaide 36ers.
