The Hungry Jack’s NBL preseason is in full swing with the Brisbane Bullets taking on the South East Melbourne Phoenix twice in three days, with games on Friday and Sunday at the Gold Coast Leisure Centre.
It will be the first time there has been a professional basketball match played in south-east Queensland for close to 12 months and Bullets members and fans are encouraged to get to the Gold Coast for what many are saying is the official start to NBL21.
It will be Brisbane’s second round of preseason games but with a number of squad changes, the Bullets’ are expected to give all available squad members some valuable court time with just one month until the season proper.
Experienced Guard Nathan Sobey is looking forward to getting out on the court to take on an NBL opposition.
“It’s the first time we’ve got the majority of the group together, so it’ll be good to get out and play someone else, other than just each other here at training.
“We’ve got some new faces in the group, both young fellas and also some new faces to the Bullets club so I’ll be looking to lead the group and show them the way.”
Assistant Coach CJ Bruton is keen to get down to the Gold Coast and get the group some game time.
“It’s definitely exciting times for the community,” Bruton said.
“For where we’ve been over the past seven to eight months, it’s great to have the sport back. To be able to have people come and watch is exciting.
“The players are super pumped.”
