Brisbane Bullets guard, Nathan Sobey will play his 200th NBL Game when he runs out against the Sydney Kings at Qudos Bank Arena.
Sobey has continued to grow from strength to strength on his way to reach this significant milestone.
Currently in his eighth season in the league, he got his NBL opportunity with the Cairns Taipans in 2014/15, following a strong collegiate career in the US. Two seasons later, Sobey solidified himself in the Adelaide 36ers line-up, named as the NBL’s most improved player in the 2016/17 season.
After spending four seasons at the 36ers, Sobey headed North to Brisbane for the 2019/20 season where he had an immediate impact.
Coming off a career-best season in NBL21, Sobey was named in the Leagues All-NBL First Team. Across the season, he averaged 21.06 points, 4.75 assist, and 4.95 rebounds from 34 minutes on the floor, while proving himself as an elite defender. As a result, he was rewarded with a spot in the Australian Boomers side that won bronze at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Much to the delight of Brisbane fans, he’s picked up right where he left of last season, scoring a season high 30 points in game 199 against the Sydney Kings at Nissan Arena on Friday night.
A true professional, Sobey’s innate competitive drive and willingness to trust the process has been integral to his positive career trajectory.
Reflecting on the last 199 games Sobey credited all those who’ve had a positive impact on his career so far.
“I have enjoyed playing in such a great league over the years and have loved the process of it all to be able to get to 200 games,” Sobey said.
“A lot of great teammates and coaches have helped me along the way so I would just like to thank them for the part they have played."
When asked about his goals for the NBL22 season and beyond, one thing was on his mind.
“To win an NBL Championship.”
Be sure to watch Sobey hit his milestone when the Bullets face the Kings, Live on 10Peach and Kayo at 12pm AEST.
