PLAYER TO WATCH

Nathan Sobey has been eased back in to the Bullets line-up over the pre-season and is still on minutes restrictions.

A dedicated professional, Sobey has worked so hard through his rehab process to return to the floor and compete with his teammates. In Friday night’s game against the Kings, he played some really efficient minutes, finishing with 15 points and 2 steals, shooting 75% from beyond the arc.

As the season progresses and minutes can increase, expect Nathan Sobey to consistently produce positive performances for the Bullets in NBL23.

KEY MATCHUP

Tanner Krebs and Jack McVeigh are both big energy guys. Both players shoot the ball well and have the ability to get downhill and get at the rim when the lane opens up, while also locking down on the defensive end.

Krebs has stepped up into a leadership position with the Bullets this year and also stepped into a starting role in the first couple of games. When he isn’t scoring he’s getting other players involved and bringing the energy to the team which will be necessary in the Bullets third consecutive game on the road.

McVeigh has scored in double figures for the JackJumpers in their three previous games and the host side will be looking to him to bring his usual impact to the game. This will be a great match up for the fans.

ON THE RECORD

Following the Bullets game against the Kings on Friday night, James Duncan and Nathan Sobey spoke to the media.

Duncan was happy with the team’s effort however highlighted the focus must be in the details moving forward.

“Can’t fault the effort but our execution in terms of just the details was a D in the last five minutes of the game.”

Sobey reiterated that the lack of execution hurt them down the stretch on Friday night.

“We couldn’t execute on that end of the floor to get stops when we needed it,” Sobey said.

Sobey was positive looking to the game and season ahead.

“We’re only just getting started and there’s a lot of potential in what we can do,” Sobey added.

“We’ve shown signs but we’ve just got to keep progressing.”
