It’s been a busy few months at the Brisbane Bullets, with the re-signing of Sam McDaniel, the acquisition of three new players and the addition of Will Weaver’s coaching staff.
Here’s an update of how we're looking heading towards pre-season:
Lat Mayen, Harry Rouhliadeff and Rio Bruton have joined Tyrell Harrison, Mitch Norton, Jacob Holt, Taine Murray and McDaniel on the roster, while Tristan Devers is the subject of college interest, leaving four spots – including up to three import vacancies – available.
McDaniel rejoins the Bullets having been with the club since NBL24. The 30-year-old has returned from injury setbacks and remains one of the league’s premier defensive players.
Mayen is no stranger to the league either, having spent time with the Cairns Taipans, Adelaide 36ers and Perth Wildcats, establishing himself as a hard-working contributor who impacts games through effort plays, defensive intensity and competitiveness.
Brisbane-born Rouhliadeff is a product of Coorparoo’s Villanova College and, more recently, a University of Hawai‘i graduate.
Named team captain in his senior season, he helped lead the Rainbow Warriors to their first March Madness appearance in a decade, earning selection in the 2026 Big West Championship All-Tournament Team.
Meanwhile, Rio Bruton has become the third generation of his family to represent the Bullets, joining the club as a development player.
The Queenslander currently plays with the South Adelaide Panthers in NBL1 Central. He is averaging 18.8 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game while continuing to build a reputation as an elite shooter and versatile offensive threat.
His signing leaves up to three development player positions available alongside one NBL Next Star spot.
On the coaching side, Weaver has recruited Markus Klusemann to join him as Assistant Coach and Head of High Performance.
The experienced German-Australian brings two decades of experience across three continents, most recently working with Bullets big man Jacob Holt at the Frankfurt Skyliners Juniors.
Finnish basketball legend Hanno Möttölä has also joined the coaching staff with a player development focus shaped by experience across multiple high-performance environments, while talented young coach Alex Grossman has come to the club as Assistant Coach and Basketball Operations Assistant.
