The Brisbane Bullets had a positive start to their NBL23 pre-season campaign, defeating Melbourne United 105-77 at Selkirk Stadium in Ballarat.

The Bullets were executed their offence expertly from the jump under the stewardship of Jason Cadee, getting out to an early 9-2 lead.  Tanner Krebs contributed five quick points and it was evident their strong off-season form in the NBL1 was transferring well.

Fresh import signing Devondrick Walker came off the bench with a spark, knocking down a quick three with his first touch as a Brisbane Bullet. He continued to fire with 10 points in the opening quarter to extend the Bullets lead by 10 at the opening break.

Brisbane continued their roll out of the first break, putting together an 8-0 run to extend their lead to 18. Melbourne then began to connect on the offensive end, with their imports Xavier Rathan Mayes Rajon Tucker, Jordan Caroline and sharpshooter Chris Goulding starting to find a rhythm.

The visitors were able to respond, with a flurry of scoring on their way to 34 points for the quarter and a 60-43 lead at the main break.

The Bullets moved the ball well and continued lock down on defence, holding United to just 8 points in the third quarter, extending their lead to 28 points by three quarter time.

Melbourne brought the deficit back to 18 at one point, however the Bullets held strong, defeating the home side by 28.

There were strong contributions across the board for the Bullets who were without Aron Baynes, Tyler Johnson, Nathan Sobey and Tyrell Harrison.

Devondrick Walker put together a solid performance top scoring for the Bullets in his first outing with 18 points off the bench.

Froling was super active on the offensive glass and delivered 7 points, nine rebounds and four assists and Krebs had 12 points, four boards, three assists and two steals.

Brisbane also got plenty from others too, with Jason Cadee adding 11 points and 5 assists, Kody Stattman putting up 11 points, DJ Mitchell nine points and six assists, Rasmus Bach nine points, and Lual Diing eight points and six rebounds.

The two teams will do it all again on Saturday night in Casey before turning their attention to the NBL Blitz in Darwin starting next Friday.
