What career pathways does the program open up?
Students will obtain a high level understanding of the basketball industry, gaining valuable experience in a wide range of areas from membership, game day events, media, coaching, community engagement and much more across both the Brisbane Bullets and wider basketball industry.
Outside of the Brisbane Bullets, potential career pathways from completing the course include (either in a sports club or other businesses):

- Sports Coordinator
- Workforce Coordinator
- Community Development Officer
- Administrative Assistant
- Project Administrator/Coordinator
- Sport Development Manager
- Junior Performance Coach
What qualifications will I be studying?
TAFE Queensland (RTO 0275) will be delivering training and assessment for Diploma of Sport and Diploma of Leadership and Management (SIS50321 / BSB50420) Students need to successfully complete all 19 units listed to receive both qualifications.
Is there an opportunity to pursue further study post completion of the qualifications?
By completing the Diploma of Sport and Diploma of Leadership and Management (SIS50321 / BSB50420) as part of the Brisbane Bullets and TAFE Queensland (RTO 0275) partnership, students will have access to a nationally-recognised suite of diploma-to-degree pathways.
Graduates will receive up to one year of credit for a degree in some of Australia’s leading universities, including Bond University, including the Bachelor of Sport Development, Bachelor of Sport Management and Bachelor of Business with a major on Sport Management.
Choosing a diploma-degree pathway means that graduates are academically well prepared for bachelor study and have the work skills and experience to start their dream career in a shorter time frame.
What activities outside of the curriculum will I be participating in as part of the program?
- 100 hours of work-based placement within the Brisbane Bullets
- Weekly coaching and athlete development sessions for students
- Guest presentations from Brisbane Bullets staff, coaches, and players
- Networking opportunities with Brisbane Bullets partner organisations
Can I transfer to TAFE Queensland from another academic institute to pursue this course?
Yes, you will need to provide a transcript for units undertaken at another training provider. Where eligible, credit transfers can be applied to any units that fits the criteria. Contact us via the enquiry page to find out more.
What will my weekly schedule look like?
Face to face classes for 2 days a week at the Brisbane Bullets and TAFE Queensland precinct at South Bank, Brisbane. Virtual classes or self-directed time for approximately 6 hours per week. Prep reading and assessment completion for approximately 8 hours per week.
When does the course take place?
The next intake is scheduled to commence in February 2026.

Keep an eye on your emails to see how your application is progressing and if any further information is required. You will receive correspondence from TAFE Queensland either confirming or declining your application. If confirmed, you can then accept your offer and enrol online.
How much does the course cost?

I’ve studied previously (either at University/TAFE/VET). Can I get that recognised?
TAFE Queensland offers credit transfers. Credit transfer is the process that provides you with credit for previous formal study that is equivalent to your nominated qualification. For further information on credit transfers please refer to this link.
