The Brisbane Bullets are proud to announce the launch of the Sunshine Coast Athlete Academy, an elite development pathway designed to nurture the region’s most promising young basketballers.
Following strong demand in the Brisbane-based Academy, the Bullets have expanded their high-performance model to the Sunshine Coast, supported by Sunshine Coast Grammar School.
The Sunshine Coast Athlete Academy welcomes athletes into a structured, professional environment built to help them thrive.
With guidance from Brisbane Bullets development coaches and programs designed around NBL development standards, athletes will gain the skills, confidence, and competitive edge required to excel at the next level.
Brisbane Bullets Community and Development Manager Oliver Reid said the expansion is a major step for the club’s long-term commitment to youth development across Queensland.
“Over the past two years, we’ve seen enormous growth in participation and a huge appetite from young athletes wanting access to high-performance basketball programs,” Reid said.
“The response to our Brisbane Academy has been overwhelming. Expanding to the Sunshine Coast allows us to meet that demand and deliver a genuine pathway for young players who aspire to compete at the highest level.
“This region has always produced talented athletes, and we’re excited to work alongside Sunshine Coast Grammar School to help them refine their skills, build confidence, and adopt the habits of elite performers.”
Principal of Sunshine Coast Grammar School Anna Owen said the partnership reflects a shared vision for youth excellence.
“At Grammar, we are committed to creating opportunities that inspire students to grow, succeed, and reach beyond what they thought possible,” Mrs Owen said.
“Partnering with the Brisbane Bullets brings young basketballers on the Sunshine Coast world-class expertise and the opportunity for a clear professional pathway.”.
The Athlete Academy will provide an exceptional environment for athletes to challenge themselves, strengthen their game, and build the character required for success both on and off the court.
“We are proud to support a program that genuinely invests in the next generation,” added Mrs Owen.
