Brisbane Bullets have added promising young guard Billy McRae as a Development Player for NBL27.
The 6'5" 18-year-old joins the Bullets after winning a silver medal at the FIBA U17 Oceania Cup in December and impressing with Warwick Senators in NBL1 West this year.
McRae made a significant impact during Oceania Cup, averaging 6.8 points and 5.8 rebounds across Australia’s campaign, including a standout 19-point, 14-rebound and 7-assist performance in the semi-final against Guam.
For the Senators this season, McRae averaged 11.2 points, 5.7 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game - including a 31-point performance against the Eastern Suns. His performances across the year saw him presented with the Coaches Award by the organisation.
That campaign followed a sustained spell in the Australian basketball pathway; he began his basketball journey with the Albany Raiders before progressing through the ranks in Western Australia.
McRae believes joining the Bullets represents an exciting next step in his development.
“The opportunity to be part of an NBL roster is something I’ve been working towards, and I’m grateful for the opportunity,” he said.
“The environment, players and staff in Brisbane make it an ideal place for me to continue developing and progressing my career.
“I’m looking forward to learning from those at the club and contributing in any way I can to help the Bullets succeed.”
Bullets Head Coach and President of Basketball Operations Will Weaver said McRae’s potential and appetite for development made him an exciting addition to the program.
“Billy has already shown promise in his short career, and our task is to help him continue that progression,” Weaver said.
“We believe're looking forward to helping him develop during his time here.
“Pairing his potential with a strong work ethic will make him a better player and us a stronger unit for NBL27.”
McRae becomes the latest young prospect to join the Bullets’ NBL27 roster, alongside several homegrown youngsters.
His signing further strengthens Brisbane’s commitment to developing emerging talent within a program built around long-term growth and high-performance standards.
