Law Explains Why Scoring in NBA is “Easier” than NBL

Brisbane Bullets import Vic Law has opened up on why he thinks scoring in the NBA is “easier” than scoring in the NBL.
Law has shined for the Bullets this season, averaging 18.8 points and 8.3 rebounds per game. He played for the Orlando Magic in the NBA bubble last year and speaking on The Huddle podcast, he has explained the differences between the two leagues.
“I would say scoring in the NBA is probably a little bit easier because there is a defensive three seconds (and) you’re playing every other night so you’re not game planning,” Law said.
“We played New Zealand last Saturday and we don’t play them again until this Saturday, so surely you have to think we are not doing anything other than game planning for New Zealand.
“We should know their tendencies, we should know some of the plays and regardless of if we know that or not, New Zealand are still going to run their stuff because we don’t have Tai Webster or Finn Delany or Tom Abercrombie to mimic in practice.
“In the NBA, you’re playing every night, so the scout factor…you kind of just have to play. They give you short snippets of teams, the court is so open, you are kind of just playing.
“NBA ball is much more isolation basketball, so it is a much more offensive driven game. When you come here, every team has a seven-footer or a true big, teams are doubling, the paint is clogged, so you really have to figure out ways to scheme around defences.
“You have to be smart and be a clever basketball player in the ways you find out how to score. Both leagues deserve their praise, but I think the NBL puts a huge emphasis on physicality, intelligence of basketball and the team aspect of it.”
Law describes the contrasts in defensive coverages between the NBL and NBA, his season in Brisbane so far, the addition of Lamar Patterson and more in The Huddle podcast with Liam Santamaria.
