McDaniel’s double-doubles power Hobart to consecutive wins; Sobey puts up 41

Nathan Sobey - Ipswich Force

Nathan Sobey led the Ipswich Force to a 92-80 victory against the North Gold Coast Seahawks on Saturday night, adding 21 points and three steals as the Ipswich Force climbed atop the NBL1 North ladder at 7-0.

On Sunday, Nathan Sobey’s 41 point outburst wasn’t enough to keep his side undefeated as they fell to Former Bullets forward Lamar Patterson and the  South West Metro Pirates, 98-91.

Despite the loss, Sobey put up a monstrous first half for the Force and going into the break he had 26 points, five assists and three steals.

Sobey finished the afternoon with 41 points, six rebounds and six steals for Ipswich while shooting 10/19 from the floor and 16/16 at the free throw line.

The Force are back in action next Saturday May 13 against USC Rip City.

Sam McDaniel - Hobart Chargers

Sam McDaniel was elite on both ends of the floor over the weekend as his defending NBL1 South champion Hobart Chargers picked up two wins on the road.

On Saturday night they defeated the Bendigo Braves 106-79. Sam McDaniel put up a double- double with 23 points, 10 rebounds and six assists.

On Sunday, the Chargers came from behind to beat the Nunawading Spectres 89-77 with the reigning champions continuing to build momentum this season. He continued his strong start to the season adding 25 points, 14 rebounds and six assists.

The Chargers return home next round to face Geelong United on Friday night.

Isaac White - Mackay Meteors

Back in the North, Isaac White continued his brilliant season with the Meteors ahead of joining Bullets for NBL24 with another 35 points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals.

However, it was not quite  enough to get the Meteors over the line against the defending Champion Gold Coast Rollers who defeated them 101-89.

The Meteors are on the road in Cairns next Friday night.

DJ Mitchell - Slask Wroclaw 

In Round 1 of the Polish League Quarter Finals, Slask Wroclaw defeated 80-73. DJ Mitchell contributed five points, five assists and six rebounds.

The two teams face off again in the second game of the series on May 9 at 4am AEST.
