“I think it’s a pretty surreal milestone, I just hope there’s plenty more to come."
Tyrell Harrison is set to play his 100th NBL Game this weekend against Melbourne United.
The seven foot centre has played his entire NBL career with the Brisbane Bullets and has overcome several obstacles to reach this milestone.
Beginning his career as a development player for the Bullets in the 2017/18 season as a teenager, at just 24 years of age, Tyrell is in his seventh season with the Club. Along the way injuries have restricted his ability to stay on court for extended periods, but in NBL24 Tyrell is healthy and is now playing his best basketball for the Bullets.
Across the NBL24 season so far Tyrell has started 11 of 14 games, averaging 9.4 points, 6.2 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game while shooting an efficient 59% from the field.
“I think it’s a pretty surreal milestone, I just hope there’s plenty more to come,” Harrison said ahead of his 100th game.
Born and raised in Brisbane, he enjoys playing in front of family and friends, but it’s become even more special this season. Tyrell’s family grew over the off season, with him and his fiancée (fellow New Zealand national basketball representative Kalani Purcell) welcoming a baby girl into the world.
“I love having my family, my daughter, my fiancée around at every game and yeh it’s great that she gets to see not only me but hopefully her Mum play basketball at this professional level.”
When asked about what he wants to achieve in the NBL Tyrell had only one thing on his mind.
“My main goal is to just win a chip. Win a chip for Brisbane, home city, home town, I think that’d be really special.”
Watch Tyrell and the Bullets this Sunday 10 December at 1pm AEST as they take on United in Melbourne.
