The Brisbane Bullets have secured explosive guard Javon Freeman-Liberty as the team’s last import, adding elite talent, toughness, and a relentless will to win ahead of the upcoming season.

At just 25 years of age, Freeman-Liberty arrives in Brisbane with an impressive basketball resume and a reputation as a fearless competitor.

Standing at 6’4” (193cm), the Chicago-born guard combines dynamic scoring ability with defensive grit, making him a perfect fit for Head Coach Stu Lash’s vision of a fast, physical, and high-pressure Bullets team.

Freeman-Liberty has spent the past two years making a name for himself in the NBA G-League, where his explosive athleticism, shot-making, and versatility have drawn attention from scouts and fans alike.

During his standout 2023-24 G-League campaign with the Windy City Bulls, he averaged 18.2 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game, while shooting 36% from beyond the arc.

His ability to attack the rim, create his own shot, and apply relentless defensive pressure will give the Bullets an immediate edge on both ends of the floor.

“To add a talent of Javon’s caliber to our roster at this stage is really exciting. He’s a hungry player who’s ready to take the next step in his development as a professional,” Head Coach, Stu Lash said.

“His toughness, ferocity, and willingness to compete make him a natural fit for what we value at the Brisbane Bullets.

“Javon will fit seamlessly into our playing group, and I have no doubt he’ll make an immediate impact in the NBL.”

A former standout at Valparaiso and DePaul University, Freeman-Liberty built a reputation as one of college basketball’s most dynamic two-way guards.

In his senior year with DePaul (2021-22), he averaged 21.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game, leading the team in scoring while showcasing his ability to perform under pressure. His college performances saw him earn All-Big East honours and ultimately led to his NBA draft selection in 2022.

For Freeman-Liberty, joining the Bullets marks the next chapter of his professional journey, a chance to test himself against some of the world’s best in the highly competitive NBL.

“I’m excited to come to Brisbane and join a team that’s hungry for success,” said Freeman-Liberty.

“The NBL has a reputation as one of the toughest leagues in the world, and I’m ready to bring my grit, energy, and all-out effort to the Bullets. I can’t wait to meet the fans, get on the court with my teammates, and chase something special this season.”

The Bullets are confident that Freeman-Liberty’s combination of athleticism, defensive tenacity, and big-game mentality will quickly make him a fan favourite.
