The Brisbane Bullets have landed a blockbuster signing with freshly minted NBA Champion Alex Ducas, a homegrown Aussie star bringing elite experience, versatility and a championship mindset to the NBL.
Fresh off a season with the Oklahoma City Thunder, where he became the ninth Australian-born player to be part of an NBA title-winning squad, Ducas arrives in Brisbane with momentum and ambition.
The 24-year-old forward featured in 21 NBA games during the Thunder’s 2024/25 campaign, while also logging minutes with their G League affiliate, the Oklahoma City Blue.
At 6’7” the 24-year-old from Geraldton, Western Australia is not just a signing, he’s a statement.
For new Head Coach Stu Lash and the Bullets, this is no fluke signing, it’s a calculated move in a long-term plan that’s starting to take shape.
“After months of targeted recruitment and behind-the-scenes strategy, the Bullets' patient approach is paying off," said Bullets Head Coach Stu Lash.
“Alex has been on our radar for a long time. We waited for the right moment, and this is it. His talent and work ethic are a great fit for the club.
"Signing Alex is a big moment for our us. Adding another player with championship experience will only strengthen our roster as we head into NBL26,” Lash said.
Ducas’ basketball journey began at Basketball Australia’s Centre of Excellence, followed by a standout four-year career at Saint Mary’s College of California, where he set the school record for most games played (150), scored over 1,200 career points, and knocked down more than 230 three-pointers.
He also helped the Boomers win gold at the 2022 FIBA Asia Cup.
"I’m pumped to be coming back to Australia and putting on a Bullets jersey," he said.
"Winning a title with OKC was unbelievable, but I’m ready to bring that energy and mindset to Brisbane. I love Australia and I’m ready to get to work. Let’s do something special."
With Ducas locked in, Brisbane's intent is clear: The Bullets are going big, bold, and built to win.
