The Brisbane Bullets have announced their leadership group, with two-time NBL champion Mitch Norton named captain for the 2024/25 Hungry Jack’s NBL season. Norton has evolved as a natural leader throughout his thirteen seasons in the NBL and was voted unanimously by the playing group and coaches.
Sam McDaniel and Casey Prather have also been named in the leadership group, with the trio showing their leadership qualities both on and off the court and earning the respect of the entire squad.
Hostplus Head Coach Justin Schueller said, “We have three outstanding men that have naturally led this club since the day they arrived and became a Bullet. To be voted in by their peers speaks volumes to the respect they have within the group.”
“Norto is the perfect person to lead us into the next phase of our program through great experience and an ability to connect with people.
“Both Casey and Sam have qualities that you want in your leaders in their daily actions and habits.
“All three have experienced winning at the highest level and we know they will drive those standards daily within the group.”
For Norton, being named as team captain is really “special.”
“As a player, I've always just kind of left it all out there on the floor, and that's naturally made me a leader by example. But to be voted by my teammates and peers, I think it's a really cool achievement and testament to how I've paved my way through the league,” Norton said.
“We've got a good group of guys, a mix of young guys, experienced guys, winners all through the league. I'm going to lean on them just as much as they will lean on me and I think that's a really cool environment to be in.”
The Bullets face the Shanghai Sharks this Friday 23 August at Nissan Arena. Tickets available HERE.
