The Brisbane Bullets have defeated the South East Melbourne Phoenix for the second time in three days with a thrilling 102-100 win at the Gold Coast Sport and Leisure Centre.
In a seesawing encounter, the Phoenix had the lead for most of the last quarter, before the Bullets rallied behind their defence down the stretch. Some clutch baskets by big man Harry Froling gave the Bullets a six point lead with just 35 seconds left.
The Phoenix gave the Bullets a late scare and Kendall Stephens had the chance to win it at the buzzer, but the shot fell short.
Froling dominated all day finishing with 30 points, nine rebounds and four assists to show why he will be a problem for opposition teams in NBL21. Nathan Sobey with 22 points and Jason Cadee with 13 points, eight rebounds and eight assists also impressed for Brisbane.
Mitch Creek starred for the Phoenix with a double-double of 29 points and 10 rebounds including some big shots down the stretch which almost got his team over the line. Kyle Adnam with 18 points and six assists and Cam Gliddon with 17 points and four steals were also one of many positives to take away for the Phoenix despite the loss.
