“I’m so excited to be joining the team, I’ve played in Australia for majority of my career, so it feels like a second home to me."
The Brisbane Bullets are pleased to announce the signing of American import Casey Prather as an injury replacement for the NBL24 season.
Casey has previously had great success in the NBL with both the Perth Wildcats and Melbourne United, winning three NBL Championships across his time in the league.
The 6’6 forward emerged from the University of Florida and in addition to his time in the NBL, Casey has played internationally for Promitheas Patras in the Greek A1 League, Ratiopharm Ulm in Germany and most recently Hapoel Eilat in Israel. While in Israel he was named MVP of the league, averaging 22.5 points, 5.8 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game.
Hostplus Head Coach Justin Schueller is looking forward to welcoming Casey to the Bullets.
“To be able to add Casey to our squad at this point of the season allows us to turn a negative in losing DJ into a huge positive for us,” Schueller said.
“Casey is a winner, a competitor and great culture fit, everything we want our program to be about.”
“I’ve seen first-hand what Casey can do in this league. I was lucky to win a championship next to him and look forward to him helping us in our push to the playoffs and more.”
Casey is happy to be returning to Australia where he has had so much success in previous years.
“I’m so excited to be joining the team, I’ve played in Australia for majority of my career, so it feels like a second home to me. I’ve missed the fans the culture and the atmosphere, so being able to come back and play with such a good group is amazing,” Prather said.
“I was very fortunate to have already played under coach Schueller so for me it was a no brainer. Not only is he an excellent coach and leader, but also just a great guy off the court.”
“For me it’s all about winning. I’ve won three championships in Australia, and I plan on getting with the guys to do it again!”
Casey will arrive in Australia on 27 December.
The Bullets next home game is 27 December against NZ Breakers followed by 30 December against SEM Phoenix. Tickets available HERE.
