Brisbane Bullets General Manager Basketball Sam Mackinnon is encouraging youngster Will Magnay to keep expanding his skillset to become a more appealing NBA prospect.
Mackinnon has helped mentor and develop Magnay during his career and the 22-year-old attracted a slew of NBA interest this year.
The next step for Magnay is to grow his on-court toolbox and that’s something Mackinnon and the Bullets are empowering him to do
“The unknown and the uncertainty and what offers to take and what he needs to do…mentally, that is all white noise at the moment, and you can’t control that,” Mackinnon said of Magnay’s NBA ambition on NBL Rewind.
“What we can control is the day-to-day and working on the three-point shot. Coaching him in the QBL, it’s do whatever you want to do. You can get it off the board, you can drive it down and turn it over, I do not care.
“You’re going to do that stuff and I want you to shoot, I think he shot 10 threes in the first 10 games or something like that but it’s not enough, start shooting the three ball.
“Just empowering him and giving him confidence, I feel really comfortable in that space. Not just with Will but with all of our young kids at the Bullets and trying to help them develop.”
