The Brisbane Bullets regret to announce that guard Sam McDaniel will miss the remainder of the NBL25 season due to a shoulder dislocation sustained during the NBL1 games, which was aggravated during a recent team practice.
Following a thorough medical assessment, it has been determined that Sam will undergo shoulder stabilisation surgery. The rehabilitation process is expected to take six months, resulting in significant time on the sideline.
CEO Mal Watts expressed his concern for McDaniel: “Sam has been an integral part of our team, and it’s devastating to see him sidelined. The health and wellbeing of our players are our top priority, and we are committed to supporting him through his recovery process.”
Head Coach Justin Schueller echoed these sentiments, stating: “This is a setback for the team and for Sam but one we are ready to tackle head on, Sam will now impact winning in a different way for us.”
“The unique part in our prep without Sam is that we had to do this for the full preseason so it’s something we are ready for. While you can’t replace Sam and the way he plays, we believe in our depth and know the group is ready to fill the void.
“Nothing changes in our goal and mindset as we move forward this season,” Schuller said.
The Brisbane Bullets thank fans and the community for their continued support and look forward to delivering a spectacular experience at the first home game on October 5.
