Ahead of the final regular season round of the NBL1 North, several Brisbane Bullets players and coaches have been recognised for their outstanding performances throughout the season.
Tyrell Harrison, Sam McDaniel, Isaac White and Bullets assistant coaches Greg Vanderjagt and Luke Cann have all been shortlisted as award finalists, with winners named on Monday 15 July at the 2024 NBL1 North Awards night.
Tyrell Harrison has produced many standout performances for the Southern Districts Spartans, when not representing New Zealand on National team duties this off season. Across 12 games, Harrison averaged 24.8 points, 11.7 rebounds, 2.7 blocks, 2.3 assists and 1.8 steals per game while shooting an efficient 69.5% from the field. He has been nominated for both Most Valuable Player (MVP) and Defensive Player of the Year.
Sam McDaniel has also been nominated for both MVP and Defensive Player of the year after providing a huge impact on both ends of the floor for the Brisbane Capitals this NBL1 season. Across 16 games, he’s averaging 22.8 points, 7.3 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 2.2 steals per game.
Rounding out the Bullets players nominated for the MVP award, is reigning NBL1 North co-MVP Isaac White. As a member of the ladder leading Mackay Meteors, Isaac is the team’s leading scorer, averaging 24 points, 5.4 rebounds and 4.9 assists and 1.9 steals per game. White’s Meteors have proven to be the team to beat, only dropping two games throughout the regular season.
Featured in the list of nominees for NBL1 North Coach of the Year is Greg Vanderjagt (Brisbane Capitals) and Luke Cann (Logan Thunder).
In the final round of NBL1 North action this weekend there is plenty to play for. Despite Mackay, Darwin, Logan, Brisbane and Southern Districts all being locked in to finals with one spot remaining, positions within the top six can still shift pending this weekend’s results.
Harrison, Norton and the Southern Districts Spartans will play a road double starting tonight against Rockhampton and Saturday 13 July against Isaac White’s Mackay Meteors. McDaniel and Vanderjagt’s Brisbane Capitals will host the Northside Wizards tonight, coached by fellow Bullets assistant Darryl McDonald. Also in action is Josh Kunen and the Cairns Marlins hosting the Ispwich Force. Follow all the action HERE.
