Brisbane Bullets' Sam McDaniel has been named in Australia’s 3x3 squad for next month’s Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.
The selection follows a strong run of form for McDaniel, who made his international debut at the Champions Cup in Thailand in March before representing the Gangurrus again at the Asia Cup in Singapore.
The 29-year-old has further strengthened his credentials in recent months with a standout NBL1 North campaign for Ipswich Force, averaging 23.9 points and 7.6 rebounds per game.
Those performances have come after overcoming successive injury setbacks, with his form and fitness earning him another opportunity in the green and gold.
McDaniel is one of four NBL players named in the squad, joining Perth Wildcats veteran Jesse Wagstaff, former Brisbane Bullet Jarred Bairstow and Illawarra Hawks forward Jonah Antonio.
Australia’s Commonwealth Games campaign begins on 24 July and runs through to the medal games on 29 July.
The national team call-up comes just months after McDaniel signed a multi-year contract extension with the Bullets in April. He is set to enter his fourth season in Brisbane in Hungry Jack’s NBL27.
