The Brisbane Bullets have re-signed Australian standout, NBL-Champion, and perennial Defensive Player of the Year candidate Sam McDaniel to a multi-year contract.
McDaniel has been with the Bullets since NBL24 during which he played 28 games, averaging 26 minutes with nine points and four rebounds.
Prior to that, he won an NBL Championship with Melbourne United before two years in Tasmania.
In 2024, he won NBL1 Defensive Player of the Year, earned First Team honours, and was named the Most Valuable Player whilst with Brisbane Capitals.
A shoulder injury ruled him out of all but one game in NBL25, before he returned to be named in the NBL1 North All Star First Team for 2025 and feature 10 times for the Bullets in NBL26.
He has represented Australia both in 3x3 and with the Boomers and is currently playing for the Ipswich Force in NBL1 North.
“I’m really pleased to be staying in Brisbane — the city truly feels like home now, and I’m driven to help bring success to the Bullets,” McDaniel said.
“I feel like I’ve got unfinished business after the last couple of years, and I’m excited to show the best of myself in NBL27 and beyond.
“The opportunity to work with Will [Weaver] and the core group we’ve got returning is something I’m really looking forward to. It’s an exciting time to be at the Club.”
Head Coach and President of Basketball Operations, Will Weaver, believes McDaniel’s character and skillset make him an integral piece for the Bullets.
“We’re delighted to have Sam re-sign; his commitment to winning basketball on both ends of the floor will make Bullets fans proud,” Coach Weaver said.
“He has worked tremendously hard to overcome unfortunate injuries in recent years and we will work closely with him to ensure he is fit and firing ahead of NBL27.”
